Every event, covered
Built for a multi-day wedding
South Asian weddings are often several events across a weekend, each with its own crowd, room and timeline. We plan each one separately with you and your planner, then bring the right setup for it.
The music moves between Bollywood, Bhangra and Punjabi hits and the hip-hop, R&B and Top 40 your friends want, mixed live by DJ Wrex. It’s the same live approach DJ Wrex brings to every Los Angeles wedding.

Indian and South Asian weddings
Looking for a South Asian wedding DJ? This guide covers how a South Asian wedding DJ works, what to plan for and how to start the conversation with DJ Wrex at Synergy Events.
A DJ for every event of a South Asian wedding
South Asian weddings are rarely one night. A weekend might include a mehndi, a sangeet, a baraat, a ceremony and a reception, each with its own guests, room and mood. The sound that works for a quiet mehndi will not work for a baraat in the street, and neither will work for a seated ceremony. DJ Wrex plans each event separately with you and your planner, then brings the setup that fits it.
At your wedding, DJ Wrex will:
- Plan each event's timeline with you and your planner
- Work as MC for announcements, introductions and family moments
- Mix Bollywood, Bhangra and Punjabi hits with the hip-hop, R&B and Top 40 your friends want
- Provide professional sound and wireless microphones sized to each room
- Coordinate with your planner, venue, decorator and other vendors
- Arrive early, set up and test before guests arrive
Event by event
Baraat
The baraat moves, so the sound has to move too. We use wireless, battery-powered speakers that travel with the procession, so the music stays with the dhol and the dancing from the start of the route to the entrance. We plan the route, timing and handoff to the venue with your planner, so the energy of the baraat flows into the ceremony.
Mehndi
A mehndi is usually relaxed and social, with guests settling in for henna, food and music. We set up sound and lighting that suit the room, keep the music at a level that lets people talk and build toward dancing when the family is ready.
Sangeet
The sangeet is often the biggest dance party of the weekend, with family performances, choreographed routines and a lot of energy. We plan the program with you, including the order of performances, microphones for the emcee, music cues for each routine and dance floor lighting. If performers send their music in advance, we prepare it so every cue starts cleanly. Choreographers and family groups can share their cuts and timing during planning.
Ceremony
The ceremony needs clear sound for the officiant and music cues for the entrances and key moments. We provide microphones for your officiant and plan sound for the space, whether it is a mandap in a ballroom, a garden or a tent. We work around the timing your officiant and family set, and we stay quiet when the ceremony calls for it.
Reception
The reception is where the music opens up. DJ Wrex mixes live, blending Bollywood, Bhangra and Punjabi favorites with hip-hop, R&B and Top 40, so grandparents, cousins and college friends all find songs they love. We add uplighting, dance floor lighting, cold sparks and Dancing on the Cloud depending on what your venue allows.
Music for a South Asian wedding
- Bollywood classics and current hits
- Bhangra and Punjabi favorites for the dance floor
- Hip-hop, R&B and Top 40 for friends and younger guests
- Regional songs that matter to your family, added in the planning app
- Your do-not-play list, respected all night
As your South Asian wedding DJ, DJ Wrex mixes live, which lets the music respond to the room instead of following a fixed playlist. You can plan songs for each event in our app, which imports playlists from Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
Planning a multi-day wedding
- Send your dates. Include each event, its venue and the expected guest count through our contact page.
- We check availability. DJ Wrex plays one event per day, so each date is checked on its own.
- Talk it through. If your dates are open, we send packages and set up a 30-minute video call.
- Plan each event. Use the planning app for songs, family performances and announcements. Planning calls are unlimited.
- Hold the planning meeting. About 30 to 60 days before the wedding, we confirm the timelines and details for each event.
- Enjoy every event. We arrive early, test everything and run each event to your plan.
Each event is planned and quoted separately, so you only book what you need.
Sample sangeet timeline
This is an example. Your sangeet depends on your performers, your venue and your family's plans.
| Time | Moment | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| 6:00 PM | Guests arrive | Background music |
| 6:45 PM | Welcome and family introductions | MC, microphones live |
| 7:15 PM | Dinner | Background music |
| 8:00 PM | Family performances | Music cues for each routine, MC introductions |
| 9:15 PM | Open dancing | Bollywood, Bhangra and Top 40 mixed live |
| 11:00 PM | Last song | Played before the venue's end time |
Lighting and add-ons
Lighting changes how a ballroom or tent feels across a long weekend. Depending on your venue, you can add uplighting in your colors, dance floor lighting, cold sparks, Dancing on the Cloud, monogram projection, custom mixes and a DJ highlight video. Live musicians, including sax, percussion or violin, can be added alongside the DJ. See our wedding add-ons and custom wedding mixes pages.
Peace of mind
We carry liability insurance and send a certificate of insurance to your venue at no charge. Backup equipment is on site at each event and a team DJ stands by if something unexpected happens. Coverage is flat-rate with no overtime charges, and travel within 50 miles of Los Angeles is included.
Where we work
We play South Asian weddings across Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and Temecula. We also offer bilingual MCs in Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Mandarin and Cantonese.
How to plan with a South Asian wedding DJ across multiple events
Many South Asian weddings run across several events, and each one has its own pace, guests and music. A South Asian wedding DJ should plan the events together, not as separate bookings. Tell us which events you want covered, who is performing, who is speaking and where the family wants the focus, and Rex will build a plan for each with you.
Share your music early. The planning app imports playlists from Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube, so each side of the family can add the songs they want to hear. A South Asian wedding DJ needs the requests and the do-not-play list in hand before the event, especially when parents, grandparents and friends all expect something different from the night.
If a performance or presentation needs a specific audio cue, send us the file ahead of time so we can test it with the venue's sound. The first planning call is a 30-minute video call, planning calls are unlimited, and a final meeting 30 to 60 days out confirms the timeline and the details.
We carry liability insurance, provide a free certificate of insurance when your venue asks for one and bring backup equipment to every event. DJ Wrex plays one event per day. To start the conversation, check your date.
