DJ Wrex (Rex Balbuena)

DJ Wrex is a Los Angeles wedding DJ and MC who has been behind the turntables since 2001. A Filipino American DJ with roots in LA radio and nightlife, he has played more than 500 weddings, along with corporate events, debuts and private celebrations across Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and Temecula.

Rex mixes and scratches live rather than running a set playlist, so the music follows your guests: 90s hip-hop and R&B, Top 40, Latin, OPM and classics, plus custom edits for your grand entrance and first dance. As your MC, he handles introductions, toasts and timeline cues himself, so the person running the night is the one who planned it with you.

Couples often book him for bilingual and multicultural receptions, including Filipino, Latin, Indian and South Asian weddings.

Co-Owner · Chief Operating Officer

Amanda Balbuena

Amanda co-owns Synergy Events with Rex and has worked in Southern California weddings for more than 10 years. Before Synergy, she owned and ran a wedding photo booth company, so she knows how DJs, planners, venues and photographers work together on the day.

She’s your point of contact from first inquiry to final planning meeting: confirming your date, setting up your planning app, tracking song requests and timeline details, and coordinating with your planner and venue so nothing is left to the last week.
